A water supply of 5 gallons per minute (gpm) (without a storage) is usually adequate to
supply a farmstead including the home and livestock. Sprinkler irrigating cropland
requires water supply rates as high as 10 gpm per acre, while drip irrigation requires 3
to 7 gpm per acre.
